"The Spanish women's soccer team recently won their first Women's World Cup, but during the celebration, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, kissed a female player, sparking controversy.
Following the controversial incident, FIFA promptly suspended President Rubiales from his position, and RFEF requested his voluntary resignation, which Rubiales initially refused. Although the head coach of the Spanish women's national soccer team, Jorge Vilda, publicly supported Rubiales, he received criticism from FIFA officials and was later relieved of his duties as the head coach of the Spanish women's national soccer team by RFEF's acting president, Pedro Rocha.
On September 10th, Luis Rubiales issued a statement announcing his resignation from the position of president of the Spanish Football Federation." |
