March 31st News: Recently, former Warriors guard Quinn Cook participated in a podcast program where they discussed stories from the Warriors and the Durant-Green saga.
In response, Cook said: "In 2019, Coach Kerr told us: 'I've been with the Bulls dynasty, I've played for the Spurs, and I've been in the Suns management, but the 2019 Warriors are the team I've seen most in the eye of the storm. The media and fans put us under a magnifying glass every day, and something happens with the team every day.' You know, that year, there was also the KD and Draymond thing. I still believe the team didn't handle it well. We were the ones dealing with it every day, having many team meetings, but it never worked. I think we're all men, let's open up and resolve this properly. If we need to fight, then fight. If we need to talk, then talk. But we never truly resolved it. Even with all that, we were just one step away from the championship that year."
Talking about his favorite Durant story, Cook said: "KD is a very genuine person. He's one of the team's leaders. Although sometimes he might give you a hard time, he'll praise you when you perform well, so I respect him. Recently, there have been some unexpected events, and he might have been portrayed negatively by the media, but when you perform well, Durant will be your biggest supporter. I remember in 2019, Durant went through a lot, like his conflicts with KD, frequent injuries, and integrating with Cousins, and more. After the All-Star break, he forced himself to change his diet, not drinking any alcohol, not even touching sugar, to get his body back to its best shape."
"In the 2019 Western Conference Finals, we swept the Trail Blazers 4-0. Look at Durant's performance back then, always getting numbers like 12 points, 18 rebounds, and 15 assists, which is terrifying. In that series, he and Curry were on another level. He's truly a remarkable player, and I don't think he received the love he deserved." |
