Xabi Alonso, the emerging world-class coach, is leading Leverkusen to win this season's Bundesliga title, ending Bayern's over a decade of dominance. Leverkusen's achievement is remarkable, but everything is relative. Leverkusen's strength highlights the downfall of Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga powerhouse, under current coach Tuchel, who can be considered Bayern's worst coach in nearly a decade.
In fact, signs of decline were evident for Bayern last season. If it weren't for Dortmund slipping up in the final matchday while holding the advantage, Bayern would have lost the Bundesliga title last season. This season, Bayern thought the acquisition of Harry Kane, who has scored 31 goals in the league, would elevate them, but unfortunately, Tuchel's poor coaching prevented the team from progressing.
The biggest issue with this Bayern side is their inability to produce consistent performances. Their inconsistent performances were the main reason for losing the league title, and Tuchel's tactical arrangements have also been criticized by fans. His management of the dressing room is not astute either, with frequent rumors of conflicts with players or the club management surfacing. But most importantly, he lacks a winning mentality. For instance, although it's widely believed that Leverkusen will win the Bundesliga this season, the last thing you want to do on the battlefield is to surrender before the battle even begins, but that's exactly what Tuchel did.
After losing 0-2 at home to Dortmund, Tuchel admitted, "Is the Bundesliga over? Yes, undoubtedly. Congratulations to Leverkusen." He further stated that the entire Bayern team lacked confidence, indicating Tuchel's coaching career at Bayern has failed. Currently, the only hope for Bayern lies in the Champions League season. If Tuchel can lead Bayern to win the Champions League, then his position at Bayern may change, but otherwise, he is one of the worst coaches Bayern has had in the past decade.
