The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has revoked the license of BTM Entertainment Group Limited to operate within its jurisdiction.
Previously, the company announced a suspension in 2019.
BTM Entertainment's Violations
Last week, the MGA pointed out that the company had failed to comply with various regulatory provisions outlined in the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations.
The revocation of BTM Entertainment's license, effective March 22, 2024, highlights the regulator's commitment to upholding industry standards and ensuring consumer protection.
Following the announcement, BTM Entertainment was instructed to settle all outstanding fees owed to the MGA within seven working days.
Additionally, the regulatory authority confirmed that there is a recourse process available under Article 43 of the Maltese Gaming Act to challenge its decision, thus providing a path for redress.
Series of License Revocations
BTM Entertainment joins the list of recently revoked licenses, following similar actions taken against Rush Gaming earlier this month.
Like BTM Entertainment's case, Rush Gaming also faced a suspension of its authorization, leading to the eventual revocation of its license by the MGA.
Although the specific reasons for revoking the licenses were not disclosed, the MGA emphasized non-compliance with regulatory obligations as a key factor.
Earlier this year, the MGA also revoked the B2C license of Winners Malta Operations Ltd., effective January 11, 2024.
This stringent enforcement action underscores the Malta Gaming Authority's unwavering commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability in Malta's gaming industry. Additionally, the MGA has taken proactive measures to keep in touch with individuals associated with organized crime.
In February of this year, authorities distanced themselves from Antonio Ricci, expressing concerns about potential ties to organized crime. |
