There are so many football stars in the world, but only a few can truly be called superstars. Therefore, when some clubs have had the opportunity but missed out on signing certain superstars, it's truly a regret that comes too late. Recently, former Manchester United manager Solskjaer revealed in an interview that he had the chance to sign today's football giant Erling Haaland, but unfortunately missed out due to some reasons. So, what were these reasons?

Haaland has been one of the brightest stars alongside Mbappe in recent years. Last season, he immediately broke the Premier League's record for the most goals scored in a single season and won the Premier League Golden Boot. Although his goal tally this season was not as high as last season due to injuries, Haaland remains the most threatening player on the field whenever he plays.

With such exceptional talent, Manchester United once hoped to snatch Haaland from their cross-city rivals. Recently, former Manchester United manager Solskjaer revealed in an interview on 'The Overlap' show that he had recommended the club to sign the player not once, but twice during his coaching tenure. At that time, Haaland was still relatively unknown, and Manchester United could have secured his signature for just €20 million. Solskjaer expressed his confidence in the young talent, urging the club to act swiftly, stating that Haaland would become a top-tier player.

However, Manchester United's top management turned down Solskjaer's recommendations. They claimed to have sufficient reports about Haaland and, after careful consideration, decided against signing the player. Despite Solskjaer's subsequent attempts to persuade them, the club remained adamant, ultimately missing out on the opportunity to secure the superstar at a bargain price. Haaland later joined Manchester City for a release clause fee of €60 million.

Over the years, Manchester United hasn't really signed any outstanding players, so it's quite normal to miss out on Haaland. Solskjaer and Haaland are both Norwegians, maybe United thought Solskjaer wanted to promote young talent from his own country. Also, Haaland's father is Alf-Inge Haaland, who used to play for Manchester City and had his leg broken by then-Man United captain Keane, creating a sort of vendetta. Alf-Inge Haaland probably wouldn't want his son to join United, the team that ended his career. United might have wanted to avoid stirring up any trouble. Over the years, United has become a black hole for stars. Whether they're rising stars or established players, they haven't been able to shine at United, or sustain good performances. Take Rashford, who had a stellar season last year but has since returned to a slump. This shows that United might not be suitable for ambitious players. So, it's fortunate that Haaland wasn't ruined by United. Ha ha!

What I mean is, is there a possibility that if Manchester United had signed Haaland at the time, he wouldn't be the Haaland we know now? He might have turned into Antony's status, because Manchester United is such a chaotic place, unlikely to produce any superstars. Haha

Even if Manchester United wanted to sign Haaland at that time, there's no guarantee that Haaland would have been willing to go there.

Wow, so Manchester United once had their eyes on Haaland. But that's fate for you. With such leadership, Manchester United may not know when they'll be able to rise again....

Indeed, back then, Haaland did have the possibility of a direct buyout clause, but joining Manchester United afterwards was highly unlikely. With the grudge his father holds, it's unlikely he'd be too keen on Manchester United.

It seems that Manchester United's management is also too stubborn...

I'm glad Haaland didn't come to Manchester United. How could such a team deserve Haaland?! Solskjaer, being Haaland's compatriot, wanted to recommend this outstanding striker to Manchester United. To be honest, Haaland is really strong. It's been a long time since we've seen a center forward with such a physique - so strong and fast. As a focal point for the team, he easily maneuvers past defenders to score goals. Guardiola's vision is truly unique. Manchester City lacks a striker like him. We can see that after winning the league title, Manchester City has been unable to win the Champions League. Haaland helped the team achieve this feat. Congratulations to Haaland for all his contributions and honors at Manchester City!
