Many beginners mistakenly equate poker with Texas Hold'em. Like most card games, poker comes in various forms. As for which form suits you best, it's something you'll need to discover for yourself.

Since the early 21st century, No-Limit Texas Hold'em has become the primary form of poker after its introduction to the world stage. Texas Hold'em is the most accessible game for promotion. Although mastering the game can be challenging, its basic gameplay is simple and suitable for beginners. This fast-paced game is ideal for organizing cash games or tournaments. Currently, "No-Limit" is the most common format, but Texas Hold'em also works well with "Limit" or "Pot-Limit" structures. In the last century, almost all Texas Hold'em games were actually limited, with the most notable exception being the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event held annually in Las Vegas during the summer. This event adopts a no-limit structure.

The main events in the poker world will continue to use no-limit, but there is definitely room for the development of other game formats. There's a $50,000 buy-in event at the WSOP every year, featuring eight different versions of the game. Many professional players and seasoned poker enthusiasts consider this event to be the true "World Championship," as players need to be proficient in all aspects of poker.

Let's take a look at the gameplay of 2-7 Triple Draw. This game is a version of draw poker, where all players are initially dealt five cards face down. After a round of betting, players can discard any number of cards from their hand, and the dealer replaces them with new cards, known as "drawing." If you decide not to discard any cards during any round of drawing, it's called "standing pat."

Like Texas Hold'em, the 2-7 game has blinds, but there are several key differences:
- Players have three opportunities to discard any cards from their hand and draw new ones, hence it's called "triple draw."
- There are a total of four betting rounds, with a bet made before each drawing round and one final bet after the last drawing round.
- The game is usually played with a limit betting structure, meaning there's a standard bet limit that doubles in the final two rounds.
- The player holding the worst hand (based on regular poker hand rankings) actually has the best hand. It's a lowball game where the lowest hand wins the pot, also known as "lowball" poker.

The name of this game (2-7) perfectly describes the game. In other lowball games, Ace is usually considered the lowest card and straights and flushes are not considered, meaning 34567 is still considered a seven-low, not a straight. This means that in those games, A2345 (also known as the "wheel") is the best hand that can be made.

In the 2-7 game, however, Ace is strictly considered the highest card in the deck, so A2345 is an Ace-high, not a straight. You also have to remember that straights and flushes are not low hands. A straight like 34567 (straight) or 2♠ 3♠ 4♠ 6♠ 8♠ (flush) will lose to two pairs (like KK772) or a three-of-a-kind (like 666Q3)!

Therefore, in the 2-7 game, the best hand is a seven-high, and the best seven-high is 23457 (superior to 23467).

Pairs are obviously very weak hands, and there's nothing worse than getting a pair on the third draw when you could have drawn to a different hand. Getting a seven-high is very difficult, often eights, nines, or tens high can take down the pot. You may even win with a larger (i.e., worse) hand, especially when heads-up with an opponent who drew to a pair on the final draw.

Don't just stick to Texas Hold'em. If you're passionate about poker, you should learn different variations to become a more versatile player; you should also learn how to play stud games and poker in limit betting structures. Obviously, the best way to learn new games is through practice, but it can be challenging to do so in casinos and poker rooms, where the focus is mostly on spreading the currently popular No-Limit Texas Hold'em. For example, in Macau, aside from occasional Omaha poker tables, all poker games are No-Limit Texas Hold'em. Home games and online platforms are the best places to learn these other forms of poker.

Online gambling websites and recommended online gambling platforms will analyze poker from different perspectives, providing you with comprehensive insights into the game and gradually guiding you towards becoming a successful poker player.
