James should try to push his scoring record as much as possible

March 6th News: Today, Warriors forward Draymond Green commented on LeBron James' unprecedented milestone of scoring 40,000 points in his career during a podcast.

"LeBron became the first player in NBA history to surpass 40,000 points this weekend. It's interesting because everyone says, 'Oh, that record is completely unattainable.' But if you look not too far behind, Kevin Durant currently has around 32,000 points (note: actually 28,392 points). Durant loves to play basketball, and I'm not sure if he'll stop playing because his life is basketball; he lives to play. So personally, I think LeBron feels the pressure to keep playing for as long as possible and continue to push that record because you have Durant in his 17th season, just like LeBron in his 21st season, and Kevin may still be scoring at a very high level in his 21st season.

"So I think LeBron needs to do his best to refresh that record. Let's face it, LeBron might still have two or three more years left. I don't know if that's for sure, maybe more, maybe less, none of us know. But if he plays another two or three years, he'll average at least 20 points per game, so you can calculate another 5,000 points, which brings the record to 45,000 points. You have KD with around 32,000 points, so he needs to get another 13,000 points in the next seven years. It might be difficult to catch up, that's a very tough task," Green said.
