Actually, Barcelona's revenue-generating ability is not very poor. It's just that the high wages in the past few years have dragged down the team and led to the current financial difficulties. Nike is a big brand, and the partnership between Barcelona and Nike is beneficial for Barcelona's promotion, as Nike is the top sports brand globally. However, Barcelona is currently facing severe financial constraints. Nike's sponsorship amount is €85 million per year, but with additional clauses, if Barcelona fails to win championships, the actual sponsorship amount drops to €66 million, which doesn't even rank in the top 5. So, Barcelona's dissatisfaction is quite understandable. Meanwhile, their league rivals Real Madrid receive €120 million annually from Adidas, showing a significant gap. Therefore, Barcelona's concerns are justified. The current jersey contract runs until 2028, leaving four more years, so it's premature to decide whether to renew with Nike, switch to Puma, or establish their own brand. Barcelona may indeed seek a higher price, considering the club's extensive expertise and investment required in jersey production, promotion, and sales. However, to secure a better contract, Barcelona needs to achieve better results in the coming years. If they continue to perform as they currently do, only ranking third in La Liga, Nike and Puma might not be willing to offer a hefty sum. |
