I have a relative's child, aged only 19-20, who has recently developed a habit of gambling. This young person has an unstable job, frequently changing positions, and often getting dismissed by employers or quitting due to finding the work too challenging. I've heard that he has been gambling with significant stakes, sometimes losing thousands in a day, but occasionally winning back tens of thousands. It seems that this gambling habit has taken over, and he is considering replacing work with it, showing no interest in holding a stable job.

While I also engage in sports betting, it's not to the extent of this young person. At least I still have a job, and betting is only a small part of my activities, well within my control. Considering his age, I feel it's dangerous, and the consequences could be devastating if he's not careful. I have thought about advising him, but it's easier said than done. How could a few words from me make him obedient? I've also considered just ignoring him, letting him learn to grow on his own. But, honestly, I'm worried that something worse might happen.

Do any experienced individuals on the forum have any advice? Should I offer him a helping hand, and if so, how? What actions can I take to genuinely assist him? I truly don't want to witness a young person with so much potential go down this path. At this age, their mentality might not be mature, and gambling decisions are likely to be irrational with poorly controlled emotions!

Don't get too deep into it. Maintain a positive mindset, and be ready to set both loss and profit limits at any time.

Sometimes, it's not easy to persuade or advise.
