March 4th News: On yesterday's historic milestone achievement of LeBron James reaching 40,000 career points, former Warriors GM and current ESPN commentator Bob Myers praised James in the pre-game show.
"I've been lucky enough to see him play in the NBA Finals. Everyone watching tonight should feel fortunate that he can still perform at this level. And this isn't charity; LeBron at this age is still playing at the highest level, which is astounding. We've all been fortunate to watch him play over the past 20 years.
"Now, I have to say, it might not sound good coming from me, but if he hadn't faced the Warriors team with Curry and Durant in those years— I shouldn't say it, you should say it, let someone else say it— if he hadn't been constantly facing teams like that, how many championships could he have won?" Myers said.
Myers parted ways with the Warriors in May last year after the conclusion of the Warriors' playoff journey and joined ESPN. During Myers' tenure as Warriors GM, the team won 4 NBA championships.
