February 24th News: Recently, Korean media released a video blog featuring CuVee & Nuguri:
Q: Next, let's talk about GEN's player, Kiin! As of the filming date, Kiin has been undefeated, and he can be considered the central figure of the team, performing exceptionally well.
CuVee: I have faced Kiin many times, and one of the most profound impressions I have of him is that he plays most like a machine. For example, when facing an uneven matchup in the top lane, where option A may be more favorable and option B less so, he strictly adheres to that. If a hero has a 55% advantage, he'll play according to that advantage, and if it's 45%, he'll adjust accordingly.
Q: Is this a strength or a weakness?
CuVee: The strength is that his floor is high, but his ceiling isn't exceptionally high. The downside, as mentioned earlier, is that the ceiling isn't very high. However, the upside is that the floor is relatively high, meaning his performance doesn't fluctuate much.
Q: Is he always this consistent?
CuVee: Yes, his performance fluctuates very little.
Q: But from the perspective of other laners, being able to rely on and predict his performance to some extent is also an advantage, isn't it?
CuVee: I feel that watching Kiin's games, I deeply sense that if the team Kiin is on needs him to be the ace, he definitely won't succeed.
Nuguri: So, he's a good fit for GEN.
CuVee: I really think they're a great fit now. So, in the top lane, he can be very stable; when stability is needed, he can maintain it, and when performance is needed, he can help the team win.
Q: What do you think of Kiin's champion pool?
Nuguri: GEN has been promoting a certain style since the beginning of the season, and I think Kiin is the leader of that style. For example, many people are now using jungle champions like Maokai and Rell, and GEN was the first to use them. I think they solidified these champions in the current meta. Currently, the top lane champions, I think, are all very suitable for Kiin. Playing tank champions like Ornn or Kwangt is stable and provides strong support for the bot lane.
Q: So, compared to carry champions, he's more suitable for tank champions?
Nuguri: The current meta environment is mostly about tank champions. If Kiin encounters a meta with carry champions, he's definitely not someone who can't play carry champions.
CuVee: Kiin's strength is that he knows how to play his role as a tank. But it's also a tricky issue because even if you want to break that, it's hard, and it can't be easily broken.
Nuguri: Kiin's champion pool is really wide.
Q: Overall, he gives off a very resilient vibe.
Nuguri: If you look closely at Kiin, you'll find he might really be a robot.
CuVee: There's often talk among top laners about Kiin being like a machine!
Q: So, is he called "Mechanic"?
CuVee: His name is Kiin, Kim Kiin. Please note, don't joke about people's names.
Q: Next, let's discuss HLE's player, Doran!
CuVee: Doran tends to strive for benefits as much as possible, whether it's trading health or anything else. The advantage is when he performs well, he can really shine like a superstar. But when he doesn't perform well, it's really bad. Simply put, he's the opposite of Kiin, with a lot of fluctuations.
Nuguri: Previously, there was talk about the 5.5 to 4.5 situation, but Doran is the kind of player who will go for a 73 trade or even a 37 trade because he's really aggressive.
CuVee: Yes, I think Doran's style in the early stages of his career is similar to Nuguri's.
Q: What do you think?
Nuguri: It does feel a bit similar. I also have some fluctuations and like a style of aggressively striving for benefits.
Q: So when he breaks through his ceiling, he got the MVP in the finals of the 2023 spring season, but lately, I feel like I haven't seen much of his floor?
CuVee: That's Doran's job, to maintain his ceiling while improving his floor, which shows that Doran is actively training and growing.
Q: So, from a champion perspective, which champions are best suited for Doran?
CuVee: For example, recently, there's often Kwangt in the top lane, and Kwangt is very tanky. When he chooses Kwangt, his floor increases because he's not easy to kill. In a sense, the current meta is probably a bonus for Doran.
Nuguri: When I laned against Doran before, I really hated facing his Ornn in terms of pick and ban. Ornn is a bit difficult to deal with. Based on the feeling back then, I think what you said makes sense. |
