"I have made the decision to retire from red-ball cricket after a few restless nights wondering if I am making the right choice. Since that is by far my favorite game format, I had to make a difficult decision," Klaasen said in a statement on Monday. "But for now a new challenge awaits and I am looking forward to it." The 32-year-old has not given specifics about the challenge, but it seems likely that he will be involved in the world's shortest format leagues given his confirmed stints in the SA20, Indian Premier League, the Hundred, and Major League Cricket in the United States. Cricket Enoch Nkwe, South Africa's Director of Cricket, attested to Klaasen's continued participation in their white ball team.
