Golden Finance reports that senior trader Peter Brandt is warning other traders to be cautious of scammers who present themselves as legitimate proprietary trading platforms. In a warning shared through X, Brandt lists some characteristics of what he considers "legitimate 'we fund you' prop firms." Brandt advises potential traders to first ascertain the legitimacy of a proprietary trading platform before deciding to use it. For experienced traders, legitimate prop firms should not "forever" charge fees to traders and should have actual real-dollar funding. Additionally, the firms must set drawdowns from initial funding levels and should have no restrictions on trading styles or markets. Brandt concludes that, in his view, anything different from this is a scam.
