There's a question I'd like to discuss with everyone. As a wicketkeeper, KL Rahul averages 59 in ODIs, 43 in T20Is, and currently has an average of 52 in Tests. Does this suggest that taking on the additional responsibility of being a wicketkeeper allows him to relax and perform better as a batsman? What are your thoughts on this?

Certainly, when he puts on the gloves, he finally doesn't have to worry about his position in the team. KL Rahul has received numerous opportunities in his career but never consistent support. He was always under the pressure of potential exclusion in the next game. As the designated wicketkeeper, he knows he won't be dropped, allowing him to perform better.

Perhaps, after all, there is indeed an insecurity that was sown early in his career. At least in Tests and T20s, he outperformed Dhawan, but despite his performances, Dhawan was still given preference. He has been dropped and made comebacks so many times; I think he might always feel insecure. Maybe taking on the role of wicketkeeper just helps him feel that, at least, he's contributing in some way.

I think Rahul may also realize that, in the current scenario, his only way into the Indian T20I team is by becoming a middle-order wicketkeeper-batsman.
