Uganda is currently enjoying its most successful run in team history and is the continental champion. In November, they shocked Kenya and Zimbabwe on their way to qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. The Africa Cricket Association (ACA) Africa Cup T20 2023 title was then successfully defended by them. Uganda and Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Sierra Leona, which comprise the second rung of African cricket after the mainstays of southern Africa like South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, were represented in the Africa Cup T20.
