Tether CEO: It's very sad to gloat over Binance's misfortune! Currently attempting a comprehensive audit.
Bitfinex CTO and Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, in an interview with Fortune magazine, discussed the Binance incident, frequent FUD around Tether, and the progress of Tether's audit.
Commenting on the Binance incident, he expressed sadness for those who take pleasure in others' misfortune, stating that Bitfinex, Tether, and other competitors differ in their approach. He believes some CEOs have shown too much arrogance after the incident, solely focusing on their own companies without seeking improvement or surviving at the expense of others.
Although acknowledging this, Paolo Ardoino emphasized the differences between Bitfinex and Binance, stating that Bitfinex is smaller in scale and has chosen to become even smaller due to compliance and technological development factors. He claimed that Bitfinex has foregone many opportunities for these reasons.
Ardoino mentioned that until October of the previous year, all mainstream media supported FTX, but after FTX's bankruptcy, they distanced themselves. However, voices hoping for Tether's collapse have consistently remained.
Regarding the lack of a comprehensive audit for Tether, Ardoino countered that certain large crypto enterprises, considered heroes in the crypto industry, have not undergone comprehensive audits either. He stressed that Tether has been attempting and is in the process of introducing major auditing firms for a comprehensive audit. However, regulatory factors make it challenging to achieve, especially given recent events in the U.S. Congress, where legislators suggested that auditing firms avoid taking on crypto-related clients. Auditing firms accepting new clients from the crypto industry might expose them to significant responsibilities, particularly after the FTX incident. |
