As the Indian team embarks on a month-long tour of South Africa, the major concern is Mohammed Shami's ankle injury. Widely regarded as one of the best seam and swing bowlers globally, Shami's participation in the two-Test series is uncertain due to ongoing medical treatment. Rested for the white-ball leg, including three T20Is and three ODIs, Shami's availability hinges on his recovery. Despite being the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup, he played through ankle discomfort.

The Indian team departs for Durban on Wednesday, with coach Rahul Dravid and support staff accompanying the Twenty20 squad led by Suryakumar Yadav for the first match on December 10 at Kingsmead.

Sincerely hope Shami recovers quickly. Go Team India!

No... if Shami can't play, the rhythm of the attack will suffer a severe setback...

If Shami cannot play, I hope Prasidh replaces him instead of Mukesh. I understand that the latter may be a better bowler overall, but in terms of trajectory, Mukesh is very similar to Siraj and Shami, just a bit slower in pace.
