ODI and test matches are the two main formats of the game. Apart from more recent additions being T20s, both these formats have had a rich history. What is the difference between ODI and Test matches?

Test Cricket was the first Internationally played cricketing event that has a history from the mid-19th century. The game is played for 5 days and has 90 overs per day. While an ODI game has 100 overs with 50 overs per side.

ODI cricket is a result oriented fast-paced game that ends in a day. The test is a patience and endurance testing game that allows teams to play for a win as well as a draw. This is a major difference between both these formats.

A test match is a 5-day long event that tests a team’s ability to sustain a match, while an ODI or One Day International, much like its abbreviation, lasts for a day and more specifically 50 overs per side at maximum.
