According to estimates, the temporary casino in Chicago by Bally is expected to continue operating until 2026, generating anticipated revenues of $15 million to $25 million this year.

Located in the historic Balichicago Temple, the casino made a significant impression on the bustling North River community of the city. Despite being open for only three weeks, the casino attracted over 80,000 visitors and approximately $6.7 million in revenue. These figures were reported by the Illinois Gaming Commission.

While Bally's Chicago shows promising numbers, reporting a substantial $41.5 million in revenue in September, it still trails behind the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines. However, Bally's revenue ranks in the middle among the 15 casinos in the state, indicating strong growth potential.

Bally's Chicago opened its doors on September 9, transforming the historic temple into a vibrant gambling destination with 800 slot machines, 56 gaming tables, a central bar, two restaurants, and a coffee shop. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and other city officials participated in the casino's trial run, marking the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Soo Kim, Chairman of Bally Corporation, expressed optimism about the casino's future despite facing some challenges in the early stages of operation, acknowledging issues such as ""whisper services"" and downtown traffic disruptions in the casino's first month.

Notably, Bally's Chicago opening surprised observers with a younger demographic engaging in table games, signaling a shift in the population dynamics compared to other Bally properties. To reshape the area's perception as an entertainment hub, Kim expressed enthusiasm for introducing gaming to downtown Chicago.

The temporary casino in Chicago, according to predictions, will continue until 2026, targeting revenues between $15 million and $25 million. In September alone, Bally's Chicago contributed approximately $868,000 in state taxes and $695,000 in local taxes. The city anticipates a total casino revenue of nearly $70 million in 2023, including a one-time payment of $40 million from Bally.

Looking ahead, Bally's Chicago has ambitious plans for the future. The Rhode Island-based company won the bid last year and intends to build a permanent casino worth $1.74 billion on the West Side by 2026, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed confidence that, with the location in Medinah and an annual $200 million from the permanent site, Bally can achieve its long-term plan to contribute $50 million in annual taxes by 2025.

The display lights of this casino seem to resemble a bit of an aged appearance.

That's still several years away in 2026.
