According to reports from the Asian News Channel, two Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino dealers were caught assisting a roulette gambler in winning by manipulating the roulette wheel to land on the numbers chosen by the gambler. After getting acquainted with one of the MBS casino dealers, the gambler promised to give her a tip if she could make the roulette favor him. As a result, he won $230 Singapore dollars (approximately $1700 USD) over 174 games.
Whenever the ball on the roulette wheel landed on one of the three numbers the gambler favored, he would pay $70 Singapore dollars (approximately $51 USD) to the dealer, and this money was processed outside the casino. One day, he played 22 games and lost all of them, resulting in a total loss of $5000 Singapore dollars (approximately $3646 USD). The highest daily net profit was $4305 Singapore dollars (about $3139 USD).
In late July 2021, the MBS surveillance department discovered this collaboration and filed a complaint with the police. Under the Casino Control Act, both the gambler and one of the dealers admitted to conspiring to cheat while playing roulette gambling and were each sentenced to 28 months of imprisonment. |
