Virender Sehwag 201 vs Sri Lanka in 2008 at Galle.
India had a tough time negotiating the mastery of Sri Lanka’s then-mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis. While the visitors had already lost the first test, the second test was a do-or-die match. With this, Virender Sehwag and to some extent, Gautam Gambhir played their skins out and secured a moderate 329 in the first innings. Out of which, Sehwag scored a magnificent 201. This allowed India to come back and win the test match later on.

Faf Du Plessis’s magical debut vs. Australia in 2012.
Faf Du Plessis' first test vs. Australia proved to be a magical innings. The star batsman had made 78 in the first innings and while they had a mountain to chase down in the second innings with the scorecard reeling at 45 runs for 4 wickets, AB Devilliers and Faf Du Plessis played a gem of an innings and saved the test. Faf made a valiant 110 off 376 balls to save the match for South Africa against the mighty Australia. This is one of the most underrated test innings ever.

My vote is for AB Devilliers vs. Australia in 2012.
Complimenting Faf’s magical debut, AB Devilliers had a massive responsibility to save the test match with over a day’s play remaining and barely 5 wickets remaining. Complimenting Faf, ABD scored 33 runs out of 220 balls! One of his slowest batting innings but perhaps the most effective of the lot. Talk about resilience.
