The Indian cricket team has seen a slump in player form over the past few years. They have lost consistency while playing in major ICC tournaments and perform below par in crucial matches. The trend started after India crashed out of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. Hence, this has led even the die-hard fans to frown on the Indian team’s performances.

Yes. It is because of poor performance in ICC events.

During the days of Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni, India had the habit of winning major tournaments and matches. However, things have not been the same since the 2013 Champions trophy. It has been a decade since India’s quest to win any ICC tournament (including ODI/ Test/ T20) championship. This is why the critics refer to the Indian team’s performance and dedication as bad.

It is a broad topic, but one of the main reasons for poor performance has a lot to do with the BCCI and its priorities in team selection. While other top cricketing nations choose players based on the merits of playing a specific type of event, BCCI considers IPL above everything else. For T20, selecting IPL players is a good alternative. This cannot be certainly said for test match selection and players fail to adapt to test match play. This has led India to lose crucial matches and fans frown.
