The dispute over Manchester City's alleged financial violations in the Premier League has escalated. After the Premier League decided to sue Manchester City, the club has now launched a counterattack, accusing the Premier League of discriminating against them and labeling the league's accusations as "majority despotism." So, what do experts make of this situation? Let's hear from former Everton CEO Keith Wyness.

Wyness believes that Manchester City is unlikely to win this legal battle and that their counterattack is unlikely to succeed. He argues that the main reason Manchester City is likely to fail is because the lawsuit is based on competition law, and it's difficult for arbitrators to say that the Premier League rules implemented since 1992 are anti-competitive. Moreover, the growth of the Premier League is evident, indicating that this system has created the world's best league.

While Manchester City claims the Premier League's actions constitute "majority despotism," Wyness finds their argument somewhat strange. To him, "majority despotism" refers to the fact that a two-thirds majority of clubs must vote in favor for any decision to be valid, which sounds like democracy and is a fair way of doing things. Over the years, this system has proven itself to create the best league in the world.

Lastly, Wyness sees Manchester City's counterattack as an attempt to deflect attention, as they know their position is frustrating. However, he doubts it will ultimately be successful. The lawsuit is expected to commence soon, but it's anticipated to be protracted. It will be a lawsuit with far-reaching implications for the Premier League, potentially even affecting the league's future development.

If all 115 allegations turn out to be inconsequential, I bet the other two teams will feel quite aggrieved.....

The CEO of Everton is making too much of himself. His team had 8 points deducted at the start of the season, and Nottingham Forest, in a similar situation, lost 4 points towards the end, yet both teams managed to avoid relegation. Meanwhile, Manchester City, the most serious offender, faced no consequences and even won the league this season. It's clear that Everton and Nottingham Forest are being treated unfairly, while Manchester City, being the FA's favorite, gets away with everything. There are clearly two sets of standards at play here, so the CEO's statement about Manchester City not being able to escape punishment is nonsense. What's even more powerful is that Manchester City has directly countersued the Premier League. They're transforming from rule-breakers to victims. Manchester City's legal team is clearly much stronger than the Premier League's, so they might actually win. The Premier League's reluctance to punish Manchester City is also because they rely on them for European success, as only Chelsea and Manchester City have won the Champions League in recent years. So, the Premier League can't afford to punish Manchester City. In the end, history will only remember Manchester City's achievements, not whether they violated FFP rules. Let's hope Manchester City can win their fifth consecutive Premier League title next season.

Football is all about teams' performance on the field, so why drag financial issues into it? It seems like a tactic to attack a team indirectly, using unrelated issues. Anyway, that's just my gut feeling about it.

Wanting to walk away scot-free despite facing 115 accusations? If they do manage to walk away unscathed, there must be something fishy going on!

People from Everton talking about Manchester City probably don't have a high accuracy rate. After all, Manchester City is truly wealthy. I don't believe that money can't deal with those vampires in the Premier League association.

I'm not a person who believes only in money, but I have to say that money can solve 99% of the world's problems, and for some people, it can even solve 100%. The reason Manchester City can succeed is essentially because of financial football, solving everything with money. From the images in the news, you can see that they act boldly and decisively, without any concerns—it's just a matter of how many digits to fill in on the check. This has always been the way in the world of football: whoever bids higher, offers higher transfer fees, gets the star players. For example, if the White Turbans offered 1 billion, could they move all of Real Madrid's players to Manchester City? Absolutely. So, these people make money from oil and don't care about the cost. They just want to see people yield to money, especially the Brits, who have always been money-oriented. The result proves their point: no matter what complaints you have, money rules!
