Baccarat betting can involve any number of players, but it typically accommodates up to 9 players at a small table or 14 players at a large table (7 on each side of the curved table). Additional standing players can also participate freely. However, when the total bets of both the banker and player sides exceed the table's maximum limit (often referred to as limit red), the dealer will count the bets in the banker, player, and tie areas before dealing the cards. This indicates that the bets have exceeded the table's designated amount (with each table having its limit displayed), and players must reduce their bets to within the set limit before the game begins. Each table also has a minimum bet requirement.

Players can make various types of bets, including betting on the banker, player, tie (if they believe both sides will have the same total points), or pairs (if they think one side or both sides will have a pair of cards with the same rank).

In addition, the player with the largest bet has the right to reveal the cards themselves, designate another player to do so, or have the dealer reveal the cards (standing players cannot reveal the cards). Some casinos may specify that only the dealer can reveal the cards.

The game is played with eight decks of cards, which are shuffled and placed in a dealing shoe. Each round involves dealing at least two cards to both the player and banker, but no more than three cards. The first and third cards are dealt to the player, while the second and fourth cards are dealt to the banker. Whether a third card is drawn depends on specific drawing rules or patterns, and players are free to bet on the outcome without any restrictions.

Regarding card values, in baccarat, Ace cards are worth 1 point, cards 2 through 9 retain their face values, and 10, Jack, Queen, and King cards are typically worth 0 points (though some casinos may count them as 10 points). If the total points of all cards exceed 9, only the unit digit is counted. So, if you have an 8 and a 9, the total points are 7 (8 + 9 = 17), and only the unit digit (7) is considered. The highest possible point total is 9 (e.g., a 4 and a 5: 4 + 5 = 9), and the lowest is 0 (e.g., a 10 and a Queen: 10 + 10 = 20, with only the unit digit, 0, being counted).

The payout is determined based on the initial two cards, followed by the final result determined by drawing rules, which can result in the banker or player winning or a tie (including cases where a third card is dealt). If the player's initial two cards total 8 or 9 points (known as a natural), the outcome is decided immediately.
