The 2024 US presidential election is set to take place on November 5th, and recently, discussions about the election have been increasing locally. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was recently asked in an interview whether he intends to run for the presidency in the future, and he stated that he would not rule out the possibility.
After the Warriors won the championship in 2022, they visited the White House in January of the following year to meet with US President Joe Biden. At that time, Warriors forward Draymond Green made a startling statement, suggesting that Curry would run for President in the future, with Green himself as his Secretary of Defense.
During a recent appearance on a talk show to promote his new book, Curry was asked by CBS journalist Jericka Duncan whether he would run for President after retirement. Curry responded, "Maybe. I'm interested in leveraging my influence to do something. If that's a way to make meaningful change, it wouldn't just be President, but whether politics can create meaningful reform, or if there's another way outside of politics."
Curry then mentioned that he does not rule out running for President, and when asked if he would run in 2028, he said, "Not that soon." It's worth noting that to run for President of the United States, one must be at least 35 years old. In 2028, Curry will be 39 years old, meeting the eligibility criteria, but perhaps by then, he will still be competing on the basketball court. |
